Damn, I should've done this a long long long time ago

Just purchased a '03 VY Calais, V8 auto...
First off let me state this is the first time I have ever bought myself a car younger than me, and to add to that, a Holden!!!
I was born and raised a Blue blooded FORD boy. Prior vehicles have been an XD Falcon, 4 TE Cortina sedans and recently took possession of my uncles genuine RPO83 which when funds become available will go through a full restoration to concourse condition.

I had been searching the market for a new vehicle for the last 8weeks, and had considered many different options ranging from Grey imports such as Skyline/Supras to our local market of Falcons/Commodores and even the Magna was considered at one point. But regardless, I was more leaning towards finding a car for comfort then power.

Then about 4 weeks ago my father tells me to go check out a V8 powered WK Statesman at a dealership. Initial thoughts were "Nah, fark Holdens, Don’t like their style and they’re using the old age push rod design"

But DAMN, after the test drive boy was I hooked… Such great interior design, so spacious and quite. So many creature comforts that id never heard of or imagined before. And the power of the V8 really impressed me, even when pulling the much longer Statesman. Trying to compare it to the Ford Fairlane was like comparing chalk and cheese. No wonder FoMoCo dumped the long wheel base. The statesman shit all over it in looks, style and appeal. This was when I first come to realise my appreciation in the Holden vehicle range, but sadly after the test drive and some number crunching, the statesman was just out of my budget.

In the time since then to now, I have been reading countless threads on this site, just so I can learn heaps about the Holden vehicles. I thank this site and its members who played a key role in helping me purchase my car, as my prior knowledge of Holdens was very limited.

And after much searching and patience, I found this great example ’03 VY Calais. Its blue, with blue leather interior. V8 powered. Full service history and well looked after. Got it at a great price, and am so happy with the purchase. Never thought id ever own a Holden, but now wish I did this a long time ago…

I don’t plan to do any serious mods at this stage apart from getting it lowered, some nice 18”/19” wheels and a new exhaust note.

So anyway, you’ll be seeing me around here often, mainly asking very n00b questions about my car and seeking advice from you ppl.

These are links to pics of the car if anyone would like to view em, and maybe tell me the actual name of my paint colour and colour of the leather trim…

lmfao at you lot... I will admit, that since ive been reading up on this site, it has gotten me daydreaming of mods i've never considered before. otrcai, diff ratios, stalls, shift kits, cams, mafless tunes etc etc...
But that will be further down the track due to budget limitations atm

    Looks good - great pickup.
I thought "no mods for me" when I bought my SV8.
Edit, new exhaust, MCAI later (and 235rwkw), I'm still not going to do any mods .
